Hynix Semiconductor: plans to double revenue before 2010

Hynix Semiconductor, the world's second-largest memory player, announced its growth plan on July 25, and plans to double its revenue by 2010 and add three new generations of production lines.

The company said it plans to raise its combined revenues to $18 billion in three years as the company is committed to becoming the world's third-largest semiconductor industry. The company currently ranks fifth in the semiconductor industry's overall ranking.

Hyundai Securities analyst Jay Kim said that this is the goal that Hynix has the ability to achieve, but it is difficult to predict because of its outstanding business cycle characteristics and low industry visibility.

Hynix said that between 2008 and 2010, a 12-inch production line will be added each year. The company has two 12-inch production lines and a 12-inch factory is under construction and will start operations in 2008. And plans to increase the proportion of 12-inch plants from the current 40%, before the 2012 pull up to 90%.
