In the first half of this year, it is expected to resume the review and approval of new nuclear power projects

After the conclusion of the National Nuclear Power Safety Inspection in August 2011, especially after the final investigation report came to the conclusion that "the safety of nuclear power projects already in operation and under construction in China", the industry's expectation for the restart of new nuclear power projects will increase. The related persons of the nuclear power management department also released a series of positive policy signals on different occasions. The concept of “nuclear power continues to develop safely and efficiently” has gradually become the consensus in the industry.

It is understood that at present, some domestic companies have begun to receive orders from nuclear power plant operators. This became the "melting ice" signal for the restart of nuclear power projects. According to the China Securities Journal, some major nuclear power plant projects in the country have recently begun construction and related nuclear power equipment suppliers have gradually regained new orders. Harbin Electric Group has recently received an order for the nuclear island master equipment for Units 3 and 4 of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Station in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province. The Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 also began to resume construction in the near future.

According to industry sources, the approval of new nuclear power projects that have been stagnating for nearly a year is expected to resume in the first half of this year. Relevant sources said that in accordance with the State Council's previous deployment requirements, the approval of new projects must be restarted before the "Nuclear Safety Program" is issued. At present, the plan has been reviewed and passed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and submitted for review. The National Energy Administration was required to step up efforts to formulate "Nuclear Power Safety Plan" and "Nuclear Power Medium and Long Term Development Adjustment Plan". All kinds of signs show that on the basis of the concept of continuation of the safe and efficient development of nuclear power, the management is brewing for approval of the new nuclear power project approval.

According to sources, relevant departments have completed the "12th Five-Year Plan" for the nuclear power equipment manufacturing industry. In this context, many industry experts stated that the nuclear power equipment manufacturing industry, which is the most important component of the entire nuclear power business, will quickly bid farewell to the shadow of Japan’s nuclear accident and turn into a comprehensive warming period. According to market forecasts, in the next five years, the domestic market for nuclear power equipment will reach 400 billion yuan, and it is expected to reach nearly one trillion yuan by 2020. The three generations of nuclear power technologies represented by AP1000 and EPR will become the mainstream of the market.
