Toronto to improve energy efficiency to LED lighting

On July 11, 2007, the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) announced that Toronto will also join Raleigh, North Carolina, to create the "LED City" initiative. LED lighting is installed on the infrastructure of Toronto. The decision was announced during the transition period in which the CN Tower lighting fixtures were replaced with LEDs. Other ongoing and planned LED projects include solar-powered LED lights for parks and LED lights for public parking lots.

"LED City" is a joint initiative between Raleigh, North Carolina and Cree to promote energy-efficient lighting between municipalities. As part of the LED City program, TABIA will evaluate and promote LEDs on municipal construction lighting, and in the coming months Toronto citizens will see LEDs appearing in parks, parking lots and architectural lighting.

In the past four years, TABIA has taken the initiative to showcase the advantages of LEDs to Toronto's owners and businesses. The use of LEDs has also evolved from holiday light replacement installations to retail displays and streetlight installations. Toronto's current involvement in the LED City initiative demonstrates the city's enthusiasm for supporting the Canadian energy efficiency legislation agenda by increasing the use of LED technology, further supporting the William J. Clinton Foundation's accelerated reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and slowing global warming. Atmospheric action.

Toronto Mayor David Miller said that by using advanced, energy-efficient technologies, Toronto can and will become a global leader in energy efficiency. By using LEDs in Toronto, including LEDs on their most famous CN towers, they will achieve the goal of reducing costs, gas emissions and energy use. Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker said that LED lighting allows Toronto and Raleigh to protect the environment, save energy and taxpayers' money. The technology provided by LED suppliers such as Cree opens the way for urban infrastructure to enter the next generation of energy-efficient lighting.

Cree is very pleased to be involved in the lighting revolution that will make the world a better place, and said that Toronto and Raleigh understand the importance of setting an example for a new generation of energy-conscious citizens and government leaders. LED technology is definitely going forward. Broader government, commercial and home applications are moving forward.
