Diodes (Diodes Incorporated) launched two drives ULN2003V12 and ULN2003F12. ULN2003V12 is a seven-channel relay and inductive load current sink driver, which can directly replace industry standard devices and reduce power consumption by up to twelve times. ULN2003F12 is a four-channel version, which will reduce the footprint when driving low-voltage stepper motors and other low-voltage output channels.

ULN2003V12 is a seven-channel relay and inductive load current sink driver, which can directly replace the same type of industry standard ULN2003A products of other manufacturers and save twelve times the power consumption. The four-channel ULN2003F12 can provide a more compact solution when driving low-voltage stepper motors and requiring fewer output channels. The target markets for the two devices include household appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers.

ULN2003V12 and ULN2003F12 support 3.3V to 5V CMOS logic input, so they are compatible with a variety of microcontrollers and logic devices. They also integrate an input RC buffer circuit and an internal input stage pull-down resistor. The former effectively improves the performance under noise operation, while the latter simplifies the work flow of the three-state input logic. The new device also has a low output impedance driver, which can minimize on-chip power consumption and support an output pull-up voltage of up to 20V at the same time. Both devices provide a supply current as low as 25μA per channel and an excellent 4kV ESD human body model test performance, which is suitable for industrial applications.

One of the main functions of ULN2003V12 and ULN2003F12 devices is that each output is connected to the COM pin through an internal freewheeling diode to achieve a common cathode configuration. This function improves the current extraction capability by connecting several adjacent channels in parallel. For example, when the seven channels of ULN2003V12 are connected in parallel, the device can generally handle a load current of 1A.
