European major lamp companies recommend discontinuing non-energy-saving bulbs after 8 years

According to Xinhua News Agency, Brussels, June 6th, major European light bulb manufacturers, including Philips, Osram, General Electric, etc., submitted a proposal to the European Commission on June 5, recommending that the EU issue relevant laws prohibiting continued production after 2015. Non-energy-saving light bulbs to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

These companies said that in the next eight years, the light bulb industry should gradually shift to the production of high-efficiency halogen lamps and compact fluorescent lamps, and develop efficient incandescent lamps, and stop producing traditional non-energy-saving bulbs after 8 years. By then, CO2 emissions from EU home lighting will be reduced by 60%. It is reported that Australia, Canada and California are also considering legislation to ban the production of incandescent lamps.
