Laptop battery maintenance method

Laptop battery maintenance

The laptop battery has been used for a long time, and the supporting time is getting shorter and shorter. How to use laptop batteries properly to "wake up" their potential to the greatest extent is a question that most laptop users should ask.

Computer expert Fan said that the gradual decline of rechargeable batteries is inevitable, but the phenomenon of accelerating the "aging" of batteries due to failure to grasp the correct use method is also quite common, because rechargeable batteries have a memory effect. If you always keep the battery in a charged state when using it and charge it again before the power is exhausted, this phenomenon may occur.

The correct way to use a laptop battery is to completely discharge it every once in a while and then recharge it to its maximum capacity. This maximizes the ability to "wake up" the sleeping part of the battery capacity. The method of full discharge is to unplug the external power supply and only use battery power supply until the power is not enough to support the computer to start up. The best time to choose at night is to have sufficient time to discharge without affecting rest. But pay attention to eliminate the time setting of automatic shutdown.

Even so, there is no guarantee that the battery will be discharged to the minimum capacity, because normal operation still requires a considerable amount of power. At this time, there is another way: restart, press F2 after turning on the power, enter the BIOS setting interface (note: not sure, do not change any settings at will), and maintain this state until the power is turned off automatically, you can fully discharge, because this The power consumption in this state is relatively low.

In addition, I will introduce the six rules of maintenance:

1. Read the battery maintenance part of the user manual carefully before using the laptop;

2. When charging for the first time, you should charge the battery continuously for 12 hours, and fully charge and discharge 3 times in a cycle to completely wake up the new battery;

3. If the external power supply is used for a long time, it is best to remove the battery. Many friends have not noticed this problem. Not removing the battery when using an external power supply not only affects the battery life, but also makes the heat dissipation burden of the notebook computer heavier and shortens the life of the notebook computer;

4. Charge and discharge regularly. Even if there is a certain inert effect in the lithium ion battery without memory effect, the lithium ion will be inactivated if it is not used for a long time, and it needs to be reactivated. Therefore, if the computer is not used for a long time (3 weeks or more) or the battery charging and discharging time is shortened, the battery should be fully discharged and then recharged, generally at least once a month.

5. It is best to turn off the laptop when charging, so that the battery can be fully charged, do not unplug the power during charging. Charging at shutdown will shorten the charging time by more than 30% compared to charging at startup, and can extend the service life of the battery. It is best to use it after 30 minutes of charging.

6. Prevent exposure to sunlight, moisture, chemical liquids, short circuit between battery contacts and metal objects.

The charge and discharge times of a lithium battery generally do not exceed 800, and each time it is charged, it shortens the life of the battery. It is recommended that you use an external power supply as much as possible. If you need to plug and unplug the power several times during the use, and the laptop's built-in battery is not pulled out, it will cause a long battery life, because each time the external power supply is connected, it is equivalent to charging the battery once.
