Nuvoton Technology Introduces First VCC Independent Power Limit Filterless 2.9WD Class Audio Amplifier on the Market

Nuvoton's new NAU8214 features an analog input, a high-performance mono 2.9 WD-class power amplifier with built-in speaker protection, and an industrial rugged handheld computer and consumer mobile electronics for built-in wireless walkie-talkies. Maximize power limit

The unique feature of the NAU8214 is its ability to limit the maximum output power delivered to the load. This maximum power limit is set using an external resistor connected to the dedicated pin PLMT. Once the threshold is set, the NAU8214 limits the voltage output that exceeds the setpoint regardless of the voltage change of the input supply. The NAU8214 with this output voltage control enables its power limiting function for any given load.

Excellent EMI performance and filterless design

The NAU8214 amplifier reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) through spread-spectrum oscillator technology and slew rate control, eliminating the need for an external output filter. In addition, the NAU8214 also has better anti-interference and power supply rejection ratio (PSRR), higher than 90dB at 217Hz, is an ideal Class D audio amplifier with wireless and AM bands.

Breakthrough high performance and low power consumption

Class D topologies have a significant leap in power efficiency and noise minimization of audio equipment. The Class D amplifier can generate a square wave, making the waveform binary, which can be amplified by the switching function of the power device, and its power efficiency is higher than that of the Class AB amplifier by 66.6%.

The NAU8214 can output up to 2.9 W with a 4 Ω load and is equipped with an enable pin for very low standby current and 4ms fast start.
