Two giants join hands to enter the LED backlight market

Direct-lit secondary optical lenses with outer diameters of 22 mm and 30 mm, manufactured by LEDLink, a secondary optical lens manufacturer, were certified by Edison direct-lit backlight products. Certified optical lenses can also be used for panel illumination. Now, the two companies plan to enter the direct-lit backlight market.

Taiwan's LED packaging plant Edison and Retek have a very close relationship. When the focus of the LED lighting market has changed, Edison has established a backlight production chain at the Yangzhou plant. The plant can produce about 1.2 million light strips (LED light strips) per month. Edfluson said that their current capacity is still small.

Following Edison's entry into the backlight market, the company began to watch whether Leighton would follow suit. Retek noted that their secondary optical lenses have been certified by Edison's direct-type backlight products and have the opportunity to provide secondary optical lenses of 22 mm in outer diameter and 30 mm in diameter for Edison's direct-lit backlight products in the future. Retek hopes to join forces with Edison to enter the direct-lit backlight market.

Retek’s chairman Tang Delong pointed out that due to the large number of competitors, the company has been very cautious in the direct-lit backlight market. Therefore, in the initial stages of new product launches, they are cutting shipments. However, rivals have developed additional pressure on similar products, so Reidek’s core is still the production of small volume and large varieties within the LED lighting market.
