In 2012, the home appliance industry adjusted its industrial structure and upgraded

The home appliance industry is a pillar industry in China's light industry. At present, China's home appliance industry ranks first in the world in terms of production scale and is one of the industries with strong international competitiveness. During the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, the domestic appliance market will usher in a new round of rapid upgrading of consumer structure and large-scale product updates, which will build a good market foundation for the development of the home appliance industry.

In the previous period of home appliances to the countryside, trade-in, energy-saving Huimin and other policies overdraft, coupled with domestic real estate regulation and foreign economic downturn, in 2012 the appliance industry fell into a low growth. However, we can also see the signs that the industry is gradually improving. At the same time, the country has also introduced energy-saving consumption subsidy policies. While guiding the industry upgrade, it hopes to achieve the role of stimulating consumption. Therefore, the home appliance industry will gradually warm up.

Household appliances are important durable consumer goods in the residents' lives. The home appliance industry plays a key role in China's light industry. At present, China's home appliance industry ranks first in the world in terms of production scale and is one of the industries with strong international competitiveness. The output of major home appliances in China ranks among the top in the world and holds a large market share.

There are five Chinese-funded enterprise groups with a sales income of more than ten billion yuan in the home appliance industry, including two companies with one hundred billion yuan. The sales revenue of Haier, Midea, Gree, Hisense Kelon and Galanz totaled more than 370 billion yuan, and the sales revenue of the five companies accounted for 40% of the total industry.

During the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, the domestic appliance market will usher in a new round of rapid upgrading of consumer structure and large-scale product updates, which will effectively promote the growth of consumption in the domestic market. It has established a good market foundation for the development of the home appliance industry. It is hoped that the scale of the household appliance industry will maintain a moderate growth during the “12th Five-Year Plan” period. The total output value of the home appliance industry at the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period will reach 1.5 trillion yuan; the average annual growth rate will be 9.2%. At the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the export value was 60 billion U.S. dollars, an average annual increase of 8.4%, and the proportion of the global export market reached 35%.

Compared with color TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines, air conditioners have the lowest domestic penetration rate, and they are also considered to be the largest consumer electronics category in the market. According to industry online data, the year-on-year growth of air-conditioning sales in 2010 and 2011 both remained at double-digit levels, which were 43.72% and 15.2%, respectively. This is influenced by the national home appliances to the countryside, trade-in, energy-saving policies, but also caused a large overdraft on the sale of air-conditioning. In particular, subsidies for air-conditioning energy-saving benefits that began in June 2009 have expired in May 2011, so a large amount of air-conditioning consumption occurred before the policy ended, resulting in a high base for the same period from January to May 2011. As of June 2012, cumulative sales in the first half of the year grew at a rate of -6.23% year-on-year. Although the overall growth was negative, air-conditioning sales would be better in the second half of the year than in the first half of the year, due to the gradual reduction of base pressure and the coming of the season.

In 2011, the year-on-year growth in sales of air conditioners was more than usual, but the production in the air-conditioning industry did not make timely adjustments. It was only in the fourth quarter that there was a conscious reduction in production scale and inventory control. In the first half of 2012, the inventory of the air-conditioning industry declined month-on-month, and the ratio of inventory to sales in May reached 0.75, which was significantly lower than the peak ratio of 2 in 2011.

The major players in the air-conditioning industry are Gree, Midea, Haier, Chigo, Oaks, Hisense, Kelon, TCL, Changhong, Chunlan, of which Gree and Midea are absolute leader in the industry. The combined market share of the two companies is about 60%. In 2011, the United States began its transition and its market share declined in the second half of 2011, and there was no obvious recovery this year. We expect the impact of strategic transformation on US market share will continue into the second half of 2012. According to industry online data, Gree's highest market share in the second half of 2011 was 40%, showing Gree's strong competitiveness in the air-conditioning sector. At the same time, Haier is actively making efforts in the field of air conditioning. We can see that Haier's air-conditioning market share has risen significantly and it has seized some of the vacant market space of the United States.

Air-conditioners also have a wide range of market demand in both urban and rural areas. The market space is still very wide. At the same time, it also accompanies the need for industrial upgrading. The development trend of the air conditioner industry is that inverter air conditioners replace fixed speed air conditioners.

The saturation rate of refrigerator products in cities is relatively high, reaching the level of 90 units per 100 households in 2005; the penetration rate in rural areas has increased significantly. According to industry online data, the year-on-year sales growth of refrigerators in 2009, 2010 and 2011 both remained at double digits. This is affected by the national home appliances to the countryside, trade-in, energy-saving policies that affect people, and the sales of refrigerators also caused a large overdraft.

The second quarter was the traditional peak season of the refrigerator industry, and monthly sales data improved significantly from month to month. However, the base figure for the same period last year was relatively high, with a year-on-year growth rate. In the second half of the year, with the introduction of energy-saving subsidies and the reduction of base pressure, the year-on-year growth rate is expected to increase significantly.

The demand for refrigerators in the cities is basically saturated, and there is still room for improvement in rural areas. The future development trend of the refrigerator is divided into two aspects: structure and energy saving. In addition to the energy-saving subsidy policy for home appliances that began in June 2012, the subsidized refrigerator products, in addition to being limited to a level 1 energy-efficient product, also require that the energy efficiency index reach a certain target.

The saturation rate of washing machine products in the city is relatively high. In 2000, it reached a level of 90 units per 100 households; the penetration rate in rural areas has increased significantly, from 40 per household in 2005 to 100 per household in 2011. 62 units led the rapid growth of the industry.

According to industry online data, sales of washing machines in 2010 increased by more than double digits, which was 28.99%. The year-on-year sales growth in 2011 was 9.48%. However, the export situation of the washing machine industry is better than that of the refrigerator industry, and it has maintained double-digit growth since 10 years ago. Therefore, although domestic washing machines performed poorly in 2012, the cumulative sales growth rate was 2.2% from May 2012.

The demand for washing machines in the cities is basically saturated, and there is still room for improvement in rural areas. The future development trend of washing machines is divided into two aspects. On the one hand, the pulsator upgrades to the drum. On the other hand, an ordinary washing machine is upgraded to an inverter washing machine, and the energy consumption is low, which is more in line with the requirements of the current New Energy Conservation Subsidy Policy.
