Samsung plans to invest $600 million in India to expand smartphone production

[Global Science and Technology Report] According to Yonhap News Agency report on June 4, industry sources said that Samsung Electronics plans to invest 700 billion won (approximately 623 million U.S. dollars) in India to expand smart phone production in the country.

According to the Indian government and industry sources, Samsung plans to expand the production line in Noida, Northern India, from the current 120,000 square meters to 240,000 square meters. At present, the factory produces 5 million mobile phones per month. Once the expansion project is completed, the factory's production capacity will increase substantially, with an average monthly output of 10 million units, and the output of refrigerators will also triple, reaching 200,000 units.

South Korean technology giant Samsung currently owns two factories in India and another factory in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Noida's factory was established in 1997, focusing on the production of mobile phones, refrigerators and LED televisions.
