Recently, the rooftop distributed photovoltaic project at Shanghai Siemens Line Protection System Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the line company) was put into operation. This is the first internal demonstration project for Siemens to promote the distributed energy business in China.

The line company is located in Jinshan District, Shanghai and mainly produces Siemens circuit breakers and other Electrical Products. The distributed photovoltaic project installed this time has a installed capacity of 300 kilowatts, covering the factory's 2,000-square-meter roof. It was formally connected to the network on May 17. The project was planned and designed by Siemens Energy Management Group and provided power distribution equipment and digital energy management solutions. The photovoltaic panels used in the project were provided by Siemens partners.

Most of the power generated by this distributed energy project will be consumed locally at the factory. At the same time, the line company has set aside 1,000 square meters of roof that can be used to expand the installed capacity of solar panels. The project is designed according to a 6-year payback period and is expected to save 60,000 yuan in electricity costs each year.

This is an internal attempt of Siemens Energy Management Group in the field of distributed energy. It plans to promote this model to external industrial customers in the future. This is closely related to China's energy development trend. In the past, this country focused on centralized power generation projects, and distributed energy was considered as the future direction.

Executive Vice President of Siemens (China) Co., Ltd. and General Manager of Greater China Energy Management Group, Mai Mingrui, said that Siemens' distribution boxes and circuit breakers can be seen on many distributed energy projects in China, and Siemens also We hope to provide packaged distributed energy solutions to the market. According to the information provided by Siemens, it already has a complete distributed energy solution covering all aspects of project investment, financing, design, operation and maintenance, and can provide hardware equipment including small gas turbines according to the needs of customers.

Mai Mingrui said that although hardware is still the main business of Siemens, the company will also be oriented towards service transformation. He believes that in the highly competitive field of distributed energy, Siemens' advantage lies in the historical accumulation of hardware products such as electrical appliances and gas turbines, and it is already the second largest software company in Europe.

After China's first internal distributed energy demonstration project landed, Siemens also plans to build two similar projects. One of them is a 500-kilowatt distributed photovoltaic project, while the other incorporates combined heat and power technology with an installed capacity of 2-4 megawatts. Mai Mingrui said that after advancing these internal projects, he will consider promoting Siemens' distributed energy solutions to the outside world. However, due to the existence of market competition and other uncertainties in external projects, he did not publish the detailed development goals of the business.
