China may launch cloud computing standards in 2012

According to relevant media reports, China's cloud computing standards are being developed and the standard framework has been established. In addition, the state is conducting more meticulous research on the industrial situation to introduce more reasonable and effective supportive policies. China’s roadmap for cloud computing development is also being led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Informed sources also revealed that the standards were mainly led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and they have combined key companies in all sectors of the industry. In addition, some foreign-funded enterprises also participate as members. The standardization of cloud computing is mainly related to standard subjects, entry points, operations, and construction. The focus is on the management of the Internet Data Center (IDC), which will be divided into four levels from the IDC's energy, security and user experience. The common understanding is that it involves standards at both the technical and operational services levels.

According to the reporter, when formulating cloud computing standards, it is not “closed doors” for foreign-funded enterprises. They can participate as members. The Chinese government also hopes to absorb some mature international technologies. “But the final standards will certainly reflect our own. The dominant power and Chinese characteristics will also be dominated by domestic companies."

Director Lu Yi of the Department of Patent Management of the State Intellectual Property Office revealed that the State Intellectual Property Office has also initiated research on cloud computing patent strategy.

“When the standards are introduced, it is not easy to say when they are introduced, but it is planned to be launched in 2012 in accordance with the original plan.” According to rumors, the China Cloud Computing Standard will be completed in June and finalized in the year. CCID Consulting System Industry Research Center Sun Huifeng, general manager, said that.

Local governments are also interested in cultivating a group of their own companies. For example, Shenzhen proposes to cultivate 10 or so cloud computing companies with an annual operating income in excess of 100 million yuan in China by 2015. Shanghai also proposes similar goals. "The Chinese government intends to foster the 'national team' of cloud computing and comprehensively use policies, plans, standards, funds, projects, and industry management measures to support leading companies in all aspects and perspectives."
