FTDI launches FT810 series high resolution EVE chip

FTDI continues to implement advanced Human Machine Interface (HMI) development systems on its award-winning Embedded Video Engine (EVE) platform. Its latest FT810 series high-resolution EVE chip has begun mass production. In addition, FTDI has released the latest VM810C50 development module to support this new chip. Led by the FT800-based VM800C series, the new VM810C50 can display higher resolution images and faster data transfer rates.

The VM810C50A-D features a 5.0-inch TFT display, WVGA (800 & TImes; 480 pixels) resolution and a resistive touch screen. The VM810C50A-N does not have a display. Conversely, through its 40-pin FFC interface, it can be connected to a typical 4.3/5.0-inch LCD (SVGA, WVGA, VGA, WQVGA or QVGA resolution and 4-wire resistive touch screen interface). This means that customers can choose their screen and connect. These two modules only have the size of the credit card through the pin header to connect the SPI slave port to the system microcontroller used by the customer. Both modules feature a built-in miniature speaker, audio filtering and power amplifier, audio line output and LCD backlight control. The power supply can be powered by a 2.0mm power jack, USB Micro B port or SPI interface. If externally powered, the SPI interface can also provide 5V power to the connected device.

FTDI's FT810 chip EVE device combines touch, display and audio functions on the same single chip and uses innovative methods to implement the human-machine interface. Regardless of the image, the template, the font and the sound are treated as objects. Using this object-oriented approach, graphics can be displayed with a precision of 1/16 pixel. Compared to the traditional method of controlling each pixel individually, this new breakthrough will significantly reduce the cost and significantly reduce the circuit. Board area and system complexity. Other members of the FT810 and FT81x families can support up to 800x600 pixel display and have 18 or 24 bit RGB interface options to store graphical data with 1M Bytes of RAM capacity. The built-in JPEG compression engine can quickly process large amounts of graphics data and implement human-machine interfaces more efficiently. These devices support 16-bit and 32-bit, multi-color palettes with transparency. SPI interface and can support speeds up to 30MHz.
