Turck introduces compact ETHERNET/RFID interface

Two multi-protocol devices, Turck TBEN-L-RFID and TBEN-S-RFID Ethernet/RFID, can transmit data from RFID read/write heads in the HF and UHF bands to the controller via Profinet, Ethernet/IP or Modbus TCP in. Thanks to their high degree of protection and the ability to connect actuators and sensors to RFID readers at the same time, these block modules are ideal for RFID retrofit applications. Minimize cabling without the need for a switchgear.

The TBEN-S is an ultra-compact RFID module that transfers mapped RFID data to the controller via traditional conventional I/O, simplifying PLC integration and eliminating the need for functional module writes. In addition to the two RFID ports, the TBEN-S offers four universal DXP I/Os for sensors or actuators. Despite the ultra-compact design with a width of only 32 mm, TBEN-S-RFID still provides sufficient performance. As with the reading and writing of 8KB HF tags, the detection of more than 100 UHF tags can be performed quickly and easily. Power and network connections are made through the M8 connector.

The TBEN-L, which can be programmed with Codesys, is a slightly larger model, but also provides controller functionality so that RFID data can be filtered and pre-processed, even directly linked to the control operations of the connected peripherals. Users can easily set up the TBEN-Lx-4RFID-8DXP-CDS in one of the following Ethernet protocols in the Codesys environment: Profinet, EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP. The TBEN-L uses an 800 MHz CPU and is equipped with 128 MB of DDR3-RAM. The module's flash memory is 256 MB. The L module is connected to the Ethernet via the M12 connector and is connected to the power supply via a 7/8" connector.
