The second unit of the largest hydropower station in Tibet has been put into production

Following the commissioning of the first unit of the power station on May 20, the second station of the second station of the power station installed by the Second People’s Armed Police Force of the Second People's Armed Police Force of Tibet was reported on May 28th. The unit smoothly passed the 72-hour test run and formally connected to the grid for power generation. This is a gift given by the HPP's hydropower forces for the 60th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet.

The Lazuanzui Hydropower Project is one of the key construction projects of the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” for the development of electricity in the Tibet Autonomous Region, and it is a backbone power source for alleviating the lack of electricity in the Tibetan central power grid. The hydropower project is located in the main stream of the Bahe River in Gongbujiangda County of Nyingchi Prefecture in the southeastern part of the Tibet Autonomous Region. It is the seventh cascade hydropower station for the cascade development of the Basong Lake below the Bahe River. The average elevation of the construction area is over 3,300 meters. The total investment of the power station is 1.288 billion yuan. Three sets of 34,000 kilowatts of vertical-axis Francis turbine units are installed. The total installed capacity is 102,000 kilowatts, and the average annual power generation is 495.5 million kilowatt-hours. It is the largest single-capacity hydropower station built so far in Tibet. The power station hub building consists of a concrete gravity dam, a post-dam power plant, a right bank spillway, a left bank overflow dam, and a left bank concrete sub dam. The largest dam is 84 meters high. It is Tibet's first high concrete gravity dam and its crest is 272.7 meters long. Dams are impermeable with anti-seepage curtains and concrete impervious walls. The maximum wall depth is 80 meters.

Since the construction of the Tiger's Mouth Power Station in October 2007, the officers and men of the HPP Hydroelectric Force who undertook the construction task have carried forward the “Hard-working, Particularly Endurable, Specially Dedicated” hydropower iron and military spirit, overcoming the “tight schedule, heavy tasks, and difficulty in construction. Large-scale, high-altitude hypoxia, and many other difficulties, closely organized, scientific construction, innovation of a number of construction techniques, repeated technical difficulties, on March 30, 2008 the riverbed closure of the power station, into the main construction phase, May 20, 2011 The first unit of the power station was successfully connected to the grid for power generation. On May 28, 2011, the second unit of the power station was officially put into operation to generate electricity. It took only a short period of 9 days from the first unit to generate power to the second unit to put into operation. It created a miracle in the history of hydropower construction in Tibet. After inspection and acceptance, the qualification rate of the project quality is 100%, and the excellent and good rate is 97.78%. The vibration state of the unit at start-up operation is in good condition, and its gap can not even be blocked by a single hair.

It is reported that after the completion of the power station, it will play a very important role in alleviating the contradiction between supply and demand of power grids in central Tibet, promoting economic and social development, protecting the ecological environment, and improving people’s production and living conditions.
