Who's got credit for Ryzen and Vega? AMD profits tripled or tripled in the third quarter

[PConline News] AMD CEO Lisa Su has repeatedly emphasized her commitment to turning the company around in 2017, but the results so far have not fully reflected that promise. In the first half of the year, AMD reported another loss of $16 million. With its Q3 earnings report set to be released in the next two days, many are watching closely to see if this quarter will mark a real turnaround. Analysts remain optimistic, forecasting that AMD's Q3 revenue will reach $1.51 billion—a 15% increase from the same period last year—and earnings per share (EPS) could jump from 3 cents to 8 cents. If these projections hold, AMD could finally turn a profit in Q3, which would be a major milestone for the company.

AMD's Q2 results showed mixed performance. The company reported a net loss of $16 million for the quarter, with revenue at $1.22 billion. However, under non-GAAP rules, AMD managed to post a net profit of $19 million and an EPS of 2 cents. This improvement was largely driven by the launch of new products, including the Ryzen processors and Vega graphics cards. Analysts believe that Q3's performance will continue to improve, with expectations of a 15% year-over-year revenue growth to $1.51 billion and a 24% sequential increase.

On the profitability front, AMD had a net loss of $406 million in the same period last year, but under non-GAAP accounting, it recorded a net profit of $27 million and an EPS of 3 cents. For Q3 this year, analysts are projecting an EPS of 8 cents, which would translate into a net profit of approximately $70 million to $80 million under non-GAAP rules. This would represent a significant shift, suggesting that AMD is on track for a successful turnaround this quarter.

The strong performance in Q3 is attributed to the success of AMD’s new product lineup. While the Vega series graphics cards were launched in mid-August and may have had limited impact on Q3 revenue, the Ryzen processor line has been a key driver of growth. With continued demand for Ryzen CPUs and the upcoming release of more high-end GPUs, AMD is well-positioned to maintain its upward trend. Investors and analysts alike are hopeful that this quarter marks the beginning of a sustained recovery for the chipmaker.

SD Card Connector

Antenk extended its connector product range by SD card connectors. As already mentioned there are various applications, in the past driven by the computer industry, which are using memory cards as well in their end products, single sided pressure contact connectors can be designed and manufactured according to a customer specific requirement based on customer dedicated insulator- and contact dies. Such single sided pressure contact connectors are mainly used as board to board connection on the base of direct contact to the pads on the board.

Compact Flash Card Connector Overview

Store More Memories
Compact Flash storage cards are small, removable, mass-storage devices. They electrically comply with Compact Flash Association standards, the PC Card ATA standard, and run in True IDE mode. These 50-position cards typically hold between 32 MB and 2 GB of memory and are about the size of a matchbook. Antenk`s connectors include headers that can accept Type I (3.3mm thick) or Type II (5.0mm thick) storage cards, flush and raised mounting heights, and ejectors. Antenk Compact Flash card connectors also provide electrostatic discharge protection.Adapter for Compact Flash Card type I and II
