You buy iPhone X Intel version baseband chip is not the fastest

In a recent evaluation conducted by the wireless signal testing organization Cellular Insights, it was revealed that the iPhone X equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 baseband chip consistently outperforms the version using the Intel XMM7480 chipset in terms of LTE speed. The test involved professional equipment, including four Vivaldi antennas, to measure LTE performance under varying signal conditions. The tests started at -85dBm and progressively reduced signal strength to simulate the experience of a phone moving away from a base station, eventually losing connection entirely. The results showed that the Intel-based iPhone X had slower LTE download speeds compared to its Qualcomm counterpart. According to Cellular Insights, the difference was quite significant, with the Qualcomm version delivering approximately 67% faster download speeds. This trend was similar to what was observed with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, where Qualcomm's LTE performance was also superior. However, the gap between the two versions appeared to be smaller on the iPhone X. PC Magazine speculated that Apple may have intentionally throttled the performance of the Qualcomm baseband chip to reduce this difference, especially after some concerns were raised about the performance discrepancy on the iPhone 7. It’s worth noting that the Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 is a gigabit-class baseband chip supporting 4x4 MIMO technology, but it was not included in the iPhone X. As a result, both models have a theoretical maximum download speed of around 600 Mbps in most regions. So, which baseband chip does your iPhone X use? You can check the model number on the bottom of the box. The A1865 model features a Qualcomm baseband, while the A1901 uses an Intel baseband chip. Understanding which one you own can help you better assess your device's network performance. [via: MacRumors]
